Yoga Therapy

Yoga tailored to address your individual needs.

Therapy: to take care of or heal.

The major difference between yoga and yoga therapy is the patient-practitioner relationship—yoga therapy is usually one-on-one. A yoga therapist designs an individual practice for the patient/client to work on particular issues or difficulties. This is quite different from yoga classes, which guide participants in general yoga practice aimed at overall fitness.

Session Length: usually 1 and a 1/2 hours
(depends on your needs)

The Consultation

The consultation will start with introductions and a brief explanation about yoga and its benefits. After filling out the patient history form, we will discuss the particular issues that you wish to address and answer any questions you might have.

Techniques

The basic techniques used in yoga therapy are controlled breathing, yoga postures, meditation, visualisation—these and other practices will be used to help you enhance the flow of energy in the bodymind and to build strength and stamina.

The individually tailored practice will aim to fit into your lifestyle so it is easy to integrate into your daily routine. I will strive to make your practice achievable, and the goals obtainable, so that you keep motivated.
